Summary

Do you have a jar of spare change in your house? Get rid of 130 pennies by adding them to this record stabilizer. The pennies make the stabilizer the ideal weight to improve your vinyl's sound quality.
.
For the MakerBot Ghostly Vinyl Challenge, I wanted to create something that was useful, original, and easy to print. My first few ideas seemed to be EVERYONE's idea -- 45 adapters, record wall hangers, record organizers, and vinyl brushes -- but then I realized no one had created a record stabilizer. Stabilizers improve sound by dampening unwanted vibrations, level warped vinyl, and cancel bass feedback caused by loud PAs.
.
In order to work properly, record stabilizers need to be heavy. I used 130 pennies (hence the name "Buck Thirty"), or 5 columns of 26 pennies each, to make the stabilizer the ideal weight. The final weight should be around 418 grams or 14.75 ounces. I calculated this by doing research and printing out multiple iterations to get the kinks out.
.
I printed mine in a wood composite PLA material that I then sanded, stained, and varnished, but it would look equally fabulous in Makerbot Khaki filament, or perhaps Neon Orange, Translucent Purple, Jadeite, or Sparkly Dark Blue.
.
This stabilizer was inspired in part by this excellent DIY record stabilizer: http://www.soundfountain.com/amb/puck.html
