Summary

BSA30BBS

For BSA30 bottom brackets, traditionally designed for 30mm spindle cranks and threaded BSA frames, a common challenge has been the lack of a protective sleeve between the bearings. These bottom brackets usually feature two separate bearing cups that thread into the frame, leaving minimal space for conventional sleeves.

REASONING

I run Rotor ALDHU's with a 30mm axle on my Cannondale SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod 2 (2024). The diameter of the bearing cup threads is by design/spec to tight to slip a bottom bracket sleeve in (and there aren't any for BSA 30). I wanted a solution to keep the DI2 cables and brake lines from interfering with the axle.

SOLUTION

A bottom bracket sleeve that "folds/rolls" and expands when mounted.

USAGE/MOUNTING

(Tested and designed for ASA - providing sufficient flexibility)

  1. Decide where your cables and brake lines will pass the axle best (upper/lower) - arrange accordingly
  2. Slip the sleeve into the frame
  3. Mount the bearing cups one by one taking care that the sleeve is spread over the inside lip of the bearing cup
  4. The sleeve should have slight amount of play when mounted properly
  5. Give the design a like
