Summary

This is a completely remodelled version I made with inspiration from this post here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5172543

I completed this project in about two hours (excluding print time).
I want to provide more information on the installation process because very little information is provided by the creator above, and I changed the installation process to have the charging cable hidden, thus requiring a remodelled version.

I first started by printing the model and test-fitting my MagSafe charger, it fit loosely and had perfect tolerance for the fabric, it protruded at the top by about 1mm but I found this to be helpful later when placing my phone on the charger.

The measurements are spot on for where it is located in the heated seat's switch space, it perfectly falls right in and has a little wiggle to allow for the fabric space tolerance.

Moving on, I removed the heated seat switches by removing four screws that attach the centre console to the transmission tunnel subframe (two screws can be found in the centre console and the other two can be found underneath the shift boot assembly), with the centre console moved up this allowed me access to underneath the heated seats switches, I unplugged the two of them and then with a flat head screwdriver pushed the little tabs in and pushed forward. This moved the heated seat switches up and they popped out of the recessed space where the new charger would go (Ignore this step if you have the base model cars and don't have heated seat switches).

To have the charger work without cables being in the way and look clean, you will need to remove the 12v cigarette lighter from the centre console. This will involve pushing little black tabs you can see on the inside of the cigarette lighter with a flathead screwdriver, whilst doing that you should use one hand underneath the centre console to push the cigarette lighter out of its plastic surround. Once you have the cigarette lighter free you can remove it from the wiring harness by prying with a flathead screwdriver the tabs I have circled in red. Now move the cigarette lighter underneath the centre console and plug it back into its wiring harness.

Let's move on to the drilling. You will need a singular drill bit to make this work, it will need to be the thickness of the MagSafe charging cable connector. Using the drill bit, you will need to drill a hole in the bottom centre of the heated seat switch space, this will allow the MagSafe charging connector to fit through the hole and be routed underneath the centre console to be plugged into the cigarette lighter.

Now to apply the fabric, I used contact cement to adhere the fabric to the printed model and then cut the excess fabric with a razor blade, making sure to have the fabric over the sides so it won't pull up when you're installing the charger in the heated seat switch space. Make a small incision in the fabric where the cable will be routed in the print and when placing the charger inside the print make sure the fabric doesn't tug or the incision will be seen! Placing the charger in the print will be a tight fit, so make sure you have something to put over the charger so you can compress and friction-fit it in place (a book for example).
Now install the charger, you don't need to worry about adhering it to the centre console as it will fit snugly into the space made for it, and it's for it to be removable in case you have to do something later on or want to install the heated seat switches again.

Make sure to have everything aligned correctly and install the four screws you removed from the centre console earlier.

I hope this post was useful and you can enjoy your new MagSafe charger for your BRZ/86!

Let me know in the comments if you would like a version that can friction fit the charger without the fabric! Cheers.
