I printed the pot in the upright position using tree supports. I have seen other bonsai pots and they print them on one side without supports, so I suppose you could try that too.
The pot has holes in the bottom and it has two hooks attached to the bottom, this allows you to attach wire that will help hold the tree in place. I also put a concave in the bottom of the pot to help water flow towards the middle of the tray.
I printed using PLA. If you do the same, I would recommend coating the inside of the pot and the tray with a protective layer to ensure water does not go through. The walls of the pot are 4mm, and if you print with a high infill, you may not see any water issues. The tray has a 2mm wall and while I have not tested water and 2mm, I will protect my tray and space with a sealant just to be sure.
