Summary

Dragon Head Guard to replace simple guard on training sword (bokken). Guard is designed to replace existing guard and does not fit over top.

Models are intentionally thick with minimal small points/parts to lower chance of breakage while in use. Hand side of guard is formed to prevent any edges catching on hand. I used this in training for about 2 years with no issues.

Small model designed to fit standard wooden bokken used in most US martial arts studios. The guard on these is usually glued on. Some care is needed to pry off and smooth/sand the area.

Large model was designed to fit large heavy rubber/plastic bokken I used. (Shown in photos.) This type had a removable guard that slid off easily.

Check your blade dimensions first! It may be that you need to modify the ID of the model to fit your particular sword. As shown in the pics, the shape of each is a rough ellipse.
The small model is designed to fit a 30mm x 14mm blade.
The large model bottom ellipse is 48mm x 29mm.

For both, a small hole needs to be drilled in the bokken to align with the hole in the guard. This will allow you to bolt on the guard. (Preventing it from launching off the bokken and taking out a poster on the other side of the dojo.....) I used a 30mm M3 and nut. Press the nut into it's side or use a longer bolt to pull the nut in, then replace with a shorter bolt.
