I bought a few 4" (102mm) stainless vents for the storage lockers on my old sailboat. I chose a type I could close in the winter or while sailing through heavy seas. Then, I thought it would be nice to create a flange that catches and drains water that gets thru.
In working on this upload, I just realized that a slightly tweaked version that goes on the outside might be nice too. I'll upload that soon. I'll also upload pics after I install this.
For any PLA print to be used outside, I would spray the piece with exterior paint made for plastics. Or sand, prime, and paint with enamel. I've also had good luck with just spraying a clearcoat over PLA to protect it. Even a coat of factor 50 sunblock followed by thick car wax can help. I know that last one sounds crazy.
Printing of this is easy. Heavy on the infill. No supports or adhesion required. For the vent cover, use support - there is a bevel on the bottom.
I bought my stainless vents at a marine consignment, but I'm 90% sure these are the same thing at defender marine. https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1&id=6511415
This is a pretty obscure thingy, but hopefully someone will find it useful! It might be good for RV's, Caravans, sheds, dock boxes, etc.
