This is an improvement to the factory BMW cupholder that inserts into the center console. This is a retrofit for BMW 51-16-9-122-655 (51169122655) and requires disassembly of that part.
Installation instructions:
1) Remove rubber cover at base of OEM cupholder
2) Remove 3 Torx T10 screws attaching cupholder to base
3) Remove cupholder from base
4) Install new cupholder to base using 3 Torx T10 screws removed previously
5) Enjoy!
I lost SolidWorks during the design process. I've been using the photographed prototype for 2 years, but it could be improved. In particular, my 20oz Yeti Rambler sits higher than I intended. I haven't checked if that's due to measurement error or part shrinkage.
