In the State of Maryland it is illegal to possess a crab less than 5 inches in length. From July 15 to December 1 that limit increases to 5.25 inches. This handy ruler measures the crab. If the crab is bigger than the ruler, it is legal to keep.
Because not everyone is fortunate enough to be crabbing in the state of Maryland, I've included a generically titled version. Most states on the East Coast have a limit size of 5 inches.
