The file 'Bird Feeder For Bird Food Balls 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 47.5KB.
I was looking for a bird feeder for bird food balls I purchased from the shop and discovered no-one had made one yet so I made one and wanted to share it like all the other great people on this website.
The lid has no kind of supports so you would think it wouldn't stay in without tying a string around it but I found the lid sits very tightly in and having attached an elastic band to the hanger and swinging and bouncing it around as much as I could I couldn't seem to get it off so I would say it's pretty sturdy unless you get a seagull trying to perch on it!
I designed this in Sketchup and so used a larger scale to create the model so the stl's need to be downscaled in your print software by either a factor of 10 or 100 so the scale is 0.1 or 0.01 e.g. in Cura for my Ultimaker 2.
Also, I made this to fit 2 bird feed balls but you could very easily increase the vertical scale to make it longer if you wanted to, or wider if you had different feed!
I am not a bird expert, but I would like to hear from any people that are and can let me know what else would be good features and how to design this e.g. water feeders, other places to land etc, maybe I could add some branches or something. Let me know if you have any ideas to help improve this by my email at [email protected]
Enjoy! And I hope the birds enjoy it too!
