Summary

The bike magnetic smartphone support can carry your smartphone on the handlebars of your bicycle.

The model is FREE !. If you want, and if you appreciate the work, you can decide to donate a tip (or click here : https://www.paypal.me/CARALIG).

If you don't have a 3D printer, you can (once files downloaded), go to https://www.3dhubs.com/ and find somewone around you that will print it for you at the best price.

Once installed on the bike, and the magnets inserted in the magnets room, simply insert a metal plate (a tin can lid works well) under the support your smartphone and put your phone on the carrier. There you go !

The support is divided into 5 files that are printable separately :
1-LowerHalfRing
2-UpperHalfRing
3-MagnetRoom
4-Adapter
5-lid

You can use the adapter in case your handlebar bike is not horizontal. There is 4 different positions to screw it depending the angle position you want to apply to the support

The diameter of the ring is 28mm

The support operation is a mixture of 3D Printing / recovery and recycling.

The additional parts needed for installation and operation of the support are listed here :

  • A Torx screwdriver 9 to open the old hard disk drive (http://urlz.fr/403X)
  • Pliers to get the magnets out of the hard drives
  • Allen key 6 side 4 mm to screwn the support on the handlebar (http://urlz.fr/4044)

Recovery / Recycling parts

  • 6 magnets salvaged from old 3 hard drives out of use (http://urlz.fr/403W). Your friends will probably have an old unused PC....Here is a video that explains the dismantling magnets of a hard disk (http://urlz.fr/4040).
The important thing is to get neodymium magnets

  • 2 Screw length 20mm, with no male 5mm hexagonal screw and clamping nut 4 mm (http://urlz.fr/4043) for allen key 6 sides 4 mm (http://urlz.fr/40nU)

  • 2 hexagonals nuts with 5mm screws (http://urlz.fr/4045)

  • 1 caoutchouc band (or old inner tube) is used to fill the possible gap between the handlebar and the clamp

  • A Smartphone shell (example: http://urlz.fr/40nW)

  • 1 cover large tin can that have to be cutted to the dimensions of your smartphone

Make sure at the end, that your smartphone is very well sticked with the magnet on the support. Do enough tests to be confident with it. You also have the possibility to secure it with elastics and or a thin nylon thread that you can pass into holes of the support. You are fully responsible of what you are doing and i'm declining all responsabilities in any case if your smartphone falls from the bike and is damaged.
