Summary

Update 2020-03-13

Cooling tunnel is done. I'll skip the MOS-FET part for now. It is meant to fit a 40x40x10mm fan like the Noctua A4x10 FLX. The lid can be fully closed and optionally be modified for more fresh air intake. But this is not required in my opinion.

The mount left to the fan is meant for a StepDown-Converter. However I cannot guarantee that every StepDown-Converter will fit these mounts. I used this LM2596S to step down to 12V.

Version 2 SKR 1.4 will follow soon but I'll have to modify the mounting distances a little bit.

As I can see 1.4 and 1.3 difference is about .2mm which could be inside the tolerances. The tunnel however needs some additional cutouts on the left for an additional fan header. maybe this is not an issue. You tell me. :-) As I don't have an 1.4 board to take measurements.

I'm using this as a mounting bracket for my BigTreeTech SKR 1.3 board.

You'll have to modify your enclosure anyway for it to fit. I had to cut of the stock standoffs and the mini USB port opening must be cut wider to fit the full width USB-B port of the SKR 1.3.

A version for the SKR 1.4 with slightly different dimensions on the mounting holes is included as well.

I drilled four 3,5mm holes in the enclosure matching the bores. And used M3x16 screews with nuts and washers to mount it properly. For the fan and the board you can use the stock strews from the original board if you want to.

This bracket is inspired by Franks 3D Shop's version but build from the ground up so the motherboard fan is aligned with the mounted stepper drivers. Also as opposed to franks warning my screws holding the power supply where short enough and also a inslation layer was added below the PCB. So nothing dangerous on my side here.

I'm currently still working on it as my spare time allows it.

I'm planning on adding a tunnel blowing above the stepper drivers maybe with a Noctua 4010 silent fan as well as a mounting position for a mosfet driving the heat bed. Because the heated bed is (officially) to powerful to be driven by the SKR directly (at least the manual states this.)
