Summary

UPDATED 28-JUNE-2015: added mounting system for Picatinny rail 20mm. Picatinny rail design uploaded here can be attached to openbeam 1515 extrusions, or anywhere the 4 mounting holes can be used. Note, there are numerous holes on the back of the main housing which can be tapped to M3 for adding your own custom mounting solutions and/or accessories.

This thing was made with Tinkercad. Edit it online https://www.tinkercad.com/things/fLj95JFuSHw

Case designed for low cost electronics:

7" AT070TN92 LCD (16:9 ratio)
HDMI+VGA+2AV LCD control board, LVDS, chipset RTD2660H
Touch Screen Panel (eGalax)

FDM print these parts flat side down, NO support material, 0.2mm layer height, 0.4mm nozzle and 15% infill. Part photos were made with low cost PLA materials. Circuit board mount screws are M3 x 6mm button head, case end screws are M3 x 12mm button head. Drill threaded holes to 2.5mm, tap or self thread with M3 ... M3 screw clearance holes can be drilled to anything between 3.0 and 3.3mm diameter.

4/11/2015: Added optional bezel spacer stl file, for use when not using touch screen digitizer panel (note: original LCD screen and touch digitizer screen bonded stack was 165.2 x 100.2 x 5.3mm). Also, reduced stiffness of switch plate buttons, should be easier to depress now.

This LCD panel seems to work well with OctoPi (OctoPrint) on a Raspberry PI 2, shown here running on Chromium browser in Kiosk mode. I had planned to use the touch panel with this Raspberry Pi 2, but the eGalax touch panel is NOT supported by the Raspbian RPi operating system, kernel / drivers must be rebuilt for this, I'm not a software nut, so I gave up trying ... anyone else up for the challenge of building a good Raspbian eGalax OctoPi image, please reply below!!!!

Until someone figures out an easy way to get the eGalax touch panel working, I suggest not including it .. the LCD kits are about $10 less without it ... I have included an optional spacer STL model for taking the place of the touch screen digitizer glass. I have found this display unit very useful for setting up and debugging Raspberry Pies, well worth the ~$40 it will cost to build without touch panel.

Note there are only cutouts in the lower housing for the HDMI, Power, and touch panel USB cord ... additional cutouts for VGA, audio, etc.. can be added by someone wanted to do a remix.

This is meant to be a multi-purpose design, that is why I placed many optional mounting holes on the backside of the lower housing ... drill to 2.5mm and tap or self thread M3 screws into those holes to attach your mounting bracket designs.
