The file 'Bearing Spool Holder 3D Printer Model' is (step, stl) file type, size is 1.0MB.
I was having an issue with poor extrusion that I traced to the tension on the filament upstream of the extruder. So I designed this simple spool holder to use some inexpensive bearings, nuts and all-thread I had on hand. Now there's essentially zero tension on the filament upstream of the extruder!
I sized the cones to accommodate most common spool hub sizes. The bearings are a light press fit into the plastic cones, and the nuts press easily in to their respective parts.
In addition to the 3D printed parts, you'll need about a 6" section of all-thread (I used 3/8-16, as that's what I had on hand), one nylok nut and one regular nut (both 3/8-16), and two bearings. I used these, from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K9LYGH9?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
Feel free to modify the design any way you like! The big handwheel I upsized from a simple one found on Thingiverse, which I modified to accommodate the nut.
