Summary

Well, the title says it all, I modeled up a 3D printable BEAR TRAP just to see if I could. Everything on it is 3D printed, there are no sourced components or steel fasteners, it is literally print & snap together as the video in the description shows.

Why would I do this? I guess JUST to satisfy my curiosity of whether it could be done or not... what other reason do I need? I may have overcomplicated a few things, and I would never use this to try and trap a real bear... well, obviously. Although, this assembly IS pretty STRONG and SCARY when it actuates. Go ahead, print one for yourself and see if YOU want to actuate it by hand... but seriously though, it seems like it would hurt even though it's just some toy plastic.

If you don't need a bear trap, this thing makes a pretty fun fidget toy, JK! (or) Set it on your desk and wait for someone passing by to get curious and start playing with all your printed toys on display (LOL, we all know someone like that).

I am very satisfied with the coil springs made from PLA, the whole thing is made from PLA by the way on my circa 1986 printer. Anyway, the springs get the gears turning for more fun projects and designs (see what I did there?). Look out for more on the way!

I could have maybe done this with fewer parts, I added parts and features as I journeyed down the design road that I thought I needed or simply looked cool and ended up with a functional print. I'd be curious to hear what others think of the overall concept and how the assembly went. I'm told I have no feelings (JK), so don't hold back any honesty.

This is overall a fun experience bringing this to life, and I expect more mechanical assembly models to come! Stay Tuned.
