Summary

Battlestar Galactica Insert

A lasercut insert for the Battlestar Galactica boardgame, designed to hold the base game and all three expansions (Pegasus, Exodus, Daybreak) inside the box. It does that although the lid is raised a few mm and the manuals don't really fit into the box (I use online instructions anyway).

The insert was modeled after the broken token insert which is a great way to organize BSG if you don't have access to a laser-cutter or a lot of patience in getting it just right.

I designed the insert in OnShape with the LaserJoint and AutoLayout extensions for easy export to DXF/SVG.

Things to notice before cutting this

  • This was designed for 3mm plywood or mdf.
  • When you export from Illustrator AI to SVG the scale gets a bit off. I noted the expected width of all parts so make sure to scale to that size.
  • When using premium sleeves for the cards its a pretty tight fit and you won't be able to use many dividers (see my photos).
