I had a look for existing fume extractors for the PC case fan I had lying around but didn't find one that fit exactly what I wanted with the supplies I had on hand. So I designed this in an afternoon.
This is a snap-fit case and requires no screws or gluing. The unit is powered by 3x 18650 batteries (can be found from old/dead laptop batteries) and thus is completely wireless which is great for keeping the workbench free of tangles. It also makes it portable and great for in situ jobs in tight spaces.
Bill of materials (non-printed):
80x80x20mm fan (capable of running at 12v)
80x80x9mm piece of carbon filter (optional but recommended)
20x15mm rectangle rocker switch
3x 3,7v 18650 battery cell (wired in series for 11.1v nominal)
wire (I used salvaged copper wire from scrap power cables)
tape (optional but makes assembly easier)
