Summary

Designed this in Fusion360 based on a wooden bird feeder we use. I like feeders that are easy to fill and this one just has the roof sitting in place through gravity and can be lifted easily to fill the compartment.

I printed the majority in PETG to hold up to the outdoors but I printed the panels in a transparent pla (I don't know how will that will hold up). You can always buy a thin piece of plexiglass or acrylic from the hardware store and cut to specifications. That would also give visibility into how much feed is left.

I used crazy glue on the side piece bottoms and there are guide holes underneath the feed plate to screw into it from underneath. Before affixing the side plates, make sure you put a screw into each one (the part facing inside the feed compartment) so that you don't have to try to get in there with a screw driver later. I tried to put a guide hole there as well.

Once that's done you just have to get a line, tie it to one of the inside screws, through one of the holes in the roof, back down into the other roof hole and tie the other end to the other screw in the side panel. (if that makes any sense).

I printed this at 85% to scale with a 3mm layer height. I wasn't overly concerned with quality so printed it at 60mm/s. You will see layer issues but I don't mind, it makes it look like polywood imo.

Would love to see someone print a bigger version.
