This filter was designed for those who love to modify their printers. I wanted to use the BentoBox V2.0, but plan on eventually adding a second AUX fan, and it's installation location prevents that. The Bento also takes up a lot of space inside most printers and requires two fans.
My version is much quieter, uses the same HEPA filter from the ILIFE V3 robot vacuum and any activated charcoal medium that's larger than 2mm. It also uses a single Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX 40mm fan to keep it quieter than the rest of the fans in the printer.
Installation instructions:
1.) Install the Noctua fan with the frame facing outwards so that it will suck air into the front of the filter (that way you can visually see if the filter needs to be replaced). It comes with the 4 fan screws you will need. You will need to route the fan cable inside the unit and fish it out from the back.
2.) Glue the front and back half of the filter housing together using superglue. DO NOT SKIP THE FIRST STEP. The fan must be installed first. Ensure the fan cable is safely inside the cut out groove.
3.) Install the ILIFE V3 filter in the front section of the housing.
4.) Fill the back section with activated charcoal pellets or mesh.
5.) affix the cap to the top of the unit. DO NOT GLUE.
6.) Install in the far back left corner of your P1P/P1S and make sure its flush with the wall. I recommend using a temporary adhesive solution such as velcro or magnets. You can also install this in any other printer that has space, but it was designed with the P1S in mind.
7.) Power the unit. This is left to your discretion. I personally use the 24V power directly from the power supply so that it's always on. You could use a relay to trigger this to turn on with another fan, like the chamber fan, or use an external power supply.
Disclaimer:
The fan I mentioned is a 12V fan, and the printer runs on 24V. I have done long term tests with two other Noctua fans inside my printer running at 24V for a year with no issues.
