Summary

This is a 20mm ball adapter I made to work with my 67 Designs dash mount in my Jeep to install the radio controller head for my Yaesu FTM-400XDR VHF/UHF transceiver. It's designed for using an M5x20 machine screw with a 10mm wide lock washer. It probably would also work with Ram mounts which have similar clamps, but that's not tested. I made the stem a little thicker to add strength for holding my radio controller in bumpy situations. I didn't use supports during printing which may account for the bit of roughness on the lower half of the ball, but I figure the supports would leave just as many artifacts to clean up, so this was easier. I get the same with all ball mounts I've tried printing. I make no claims as to the durability or suitability of this design and makers assume all risk of its printing and use.

FTM-400 users, the M5x20 screws and lock washers are included with the radio in the accessories bag. I use one lock washer inside and one lock washer outside to secure the control head.

NOTE: If this is used on a dashboard mount, I recommend printing in a more heat resistant material, like ABS. A PLA version that I first printed did not hold up well in Summer sunlight temperatures on the dash.

Update: I just added a 1-inch ball version. Uses the same M5x20 screw with 10mm wide lock washer. This seems to be a more common size for Ram mounts.
