The file 'Balisong 3.0 (Butterfly Knife) 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 773.76 KB.
Revised the design of my original quite a bit, it feels much better now, also now uses M3x16 bolts and M3 nuts, also also the handle files are now oriented in their proper print orientation so you shouldn't need to mess with them this time :>
I am extremely happy with how this update came out :) The latch as such a satisfying click to it, it's just a joy to operate. This is THE balisong, i promise you that you will absolutely love it <3
Print the files as specified in print settings and make sure that you lay the handles on their flat side in your slicer. Check the assembly steps below on how to put it together. There are also pictures of analysis sections from fusion to help you understand the joints.
Comment and share your Makes!! I would love to see how yours turned out and even better if i can see a vid of you flipping it!! <3
ASSEMBLY
You will need:
a. (4) M3x16 screws
b. (4) M3 Nuts
c. Some kind of lubricant (I use WD-40 Specialist Dry Lube with PTFE)
Make sure all surfaces of the prints that will be gliding against each other are smooth. If you have any burrs or imperfections in the print, grind them down and smooth them with whatever method you prefer.
Apply lubricant to all surfaces that will be sliding together (you do not need to lubricate the inside of the handles and the length of the blade but you can if you wish)
Attach the blade to the handles making sure that the blade is pointing towards the bite handle (handle with the diamond details)
Attach the lock pin such that when the blade is closed, the pin rotates around the bite handle, and clips into the safe handle.
Move all the rotating joints around, making sure they are smooth. If they are tight, try to apply pressure against one of the sides and rotate it to smooth out the side, then repeat on the other side. If you can't get it to rotate smoothly you might need to loosen the screws. They should be tight but not so much that it compresses the bushing. This is the most common reason for things not feeling smooth.
Flip and enjoy!
