Here we have an extensively modified Picket Destroyer. A Picket Destroyer is a smaller destroyer variant tasked with the duties of long rang over the horizon scanning for enemy incoming scouts or assault forces. These ships are very lesser known in Naval history, but played a significant role, especially in the 2nd World War. These Ships were primarily placed around a Task Force for early warning. They were smaller, less armed, and concentrated more on radar capability. You’ll find this remix has been heavily modified to show the smaller hull design, lesser gunnery, and almost all angle long range scanning dishes. The typical Forecastle mounted Hanger has been removed, and replaced with a dual purpose center Hanger Bay. The duel purpose here is to accommodate 2 Valkyrie Missile Boats equipped with long range scanning capability and jamming equipment. I have those under the Valkyrie Missile Boat Remix. The Forecastle instead is intended for full frontal Capital Ship engagement, Sensor Scanning and fore point defense. With all the specialized equipment placed throughout the ship, you’ll see supporting infrastructure placed in areas to house the equipment. So, even between the Engines are now cram packed with gear. Mechanically, this smaller Vessel is very complex, and took a good 3 hours to modify, geometrically balance and thoroughly check.

The Class name is Theia, named after the Greek Demi God of sight and warning. You’ll also notice the duel purpose newer redesigned Midships secondary batteries. These are for anti fighter, and anti ship defense tasks. They are positioned in 4 positions both top side and below and in opposing directions in order to cover more ground as well as elevated to provide cover over the Fore and Aft profile of the Ship. Then Engines have been modified heavily along with the Forecastle to accommodate the guns areas or engagement zones to provide appropriate cover, leaving main batteries Fore and Aft, as this ships design intent is not to initiate combat, but to alert the Task Force and make a run for it.
