Summary

Welcome back,

Welcome to the Orion Anchorage. An Anchorage is a safe harbor to lay anchor. A place where a ship could weather the storm. This model therefore in the B5 Universe, would for all intent and purposes be an extension for Humanities efforts to push through the stars. There’s 3 Vertical Moorings and 3 horizontal rotational Habitat’s. It’s design intent is to resupply and support inbound and outbound ships. The fusion reactor is positioned logically at the aft of the Anchorage. The above and below Moorings are open in the rear sections to support ease of egress of a damaged or larger ship’s. One could expect this to be a Port of Call, a half waypoint, a destination for refuge, repairs, resupply, hospitals, food, whatever the occasion’s needs arise. Solar power support arrays around the Anchorage are linked into the design to provide energy resupply for ships and takes the load off the reactors.

Pilots traditionally board inbound and outbound ships on approach and departure. Due to the physics and intense mechanical and gravitational loads; the form follows function and the need for Pilots to provide guidance is paramount. You’ll notice the distances between Moorings and gravitational areas, this is because of Gravity well’s. Long story short, docking a ship into the Moorings is nothing short of a mastery a repeatable miracles. Nova size ships would use the above and below areas, and Hyperion size to the center. The Superstructure allows for subtle introduction of boarders into the gravitational zones, logistical halls to needed areas separately; meaning, halls for medical, resupply, inbound or departure would all be separated within. This Anchorage would be manned by professionals, that are not faint at heart.

Enjoy!
