Welcome back!
If you follow what I write, then I hinted that this was coming. Welcome to the Earth Force Memorial War Museum. What you’re looking at is the 2 remaining fully intact Nova Dreadnoughts in the alternative story line. Both Nova’s have been touched up to show them as they appeared in the era of the Earth Minbari War. These Nova’s have the antennas on the Cannons and the best of the best of remixed details amended.
So this is my idea of what a Heritage Memorial Site would look like. Since it’s B5 and in space, I chose a very proportional layout. Entering the Museum would be by shuttle and passing through former ships front Forecastle sections, but placed in a more sentimental way. The Forward Hanger Bay is placed upon the rotational disk of the Station. This way, a visitor would have the chance to not only feel the retrieval protocol, but have the feeling they were entering the world, life and story of the Nova Class’s unique world. It also represents the significance of a memorial. The Nova outer hull being placed forward of the Hanger is to represent the hollow feeling of those among us who have lost those who made the biggest sacrifice. There is non rotational external superstructure mounted so that artifacts and large projections of war footage could be viewed on the inside of the stations inner most outer hull and causeways leading out to both ships.
The Station is designed to fulfill many Patriotic Roles, Educational / Scientific visits and Ceremonies as well as holding a chapel for every Human Religion. As per usual, with Museum Ships that are also First Class Ships of the Line, contracts would be written for emergency reactivation if needed. For this reason, only some areas of the ship would be allowable to be seen to the public, and the Ships themselves would be powered down. This is why the Solar Panels are in so many numbers in the design. I chose to layout of the Panels to represent the Gates of Heaven, or any religions afterlife, descending down towards each ship rejoining them together again visually.
I would imagine this layout as I have been to Naval Museums in the past. The symbolism has to be there. Imagine, your onboard a zero g shuttle and come around and see the ships, then begin docking maneuvers and enter in thru the middle of the Station. As the excitement becomes more personal and recognizable as gravity begins to set in with the rotation of the Station while docking. Then to be greeted by Veterans who meticulously maintain and provide first person accounts and stories of life onboard the ships. Walking around seeing footage projected onto the rounded inner hull of the interior surrounding you, and then, the walk out to the zero g area where you get to make your way out down the causeways, learning how its done before boarding the ships themselves. If you’ve never been to a Naval Museum, make sure you do whilst we still have our Veterans around.
Lest we Forget!
Enjoy!
