So I looked at my list I wrote down, and it was written on a day where I was whimsically toying around with the English Language again. I thought to myself for a split second, a mine layer would be cool. How about a mine laying mining ship. Double whammy right? Well I sat down, as I always do and thought, well the Hyperion Cruiser, is a cruiser, and therefore it cruises around. Nobody ever said what. In the show, we see a cute fuzzy teddy bear that looks more like a frigate to the Destroyer. An Escort ship if you will. Nautically that doesn’t make sense, so I said what-ever. Im no one to judge creative choices. So I remixed the Heavy Cruisers onto your computer screen. But truth be told, as the wise get old, I wasn’t finished with the Hyperion yet.
So here we are, and where are we exactly? Well truth be told, which is always stranger than fiction mind you, Cruisers are the same way. Where people live and work at the same time with added adventure, machines tend to start on a life of their own and what a path that is. The Hyperion is no exception. Anyway, Cruiser’s are intended to be like for lack of a better term, a smaller faster Battleship. Designed for a wide array of missions like scouting for example. Less wide beam, and it gets a bit foggy on the Ventral to Forecastle Length, or here in the States, Stem to Stern (how boring right?) The HMS Hood was longer than the SMS Bismark. The Hood was a Battle Cruiser, the Bismark a full on Battleship…
If that’s not bad enough, here’s some other designations over the years…
Light Cruiser
Heavy Cruiser
Battle Cruiser
Scout Cruiser
interdictor
Cruiser
Guided Missile Cruiser
Pocket Battleship
Oh ya and Battleships, not a problem, we’ve been blessed with more highjynx and wordy wobblyness here too to get around those rules.
Here are some.
Battleship
Fast Battleship,
Pocket Battleship (UTOH! Crossing the line here)
Dreadnought
Where do we draw the line? There all under the umbrella of tonnage mincing, Geneva Convention litigated hell. So with that said, lets call out a type of cruiser that’s not on the rule book yet and have no specific tonnage or displacement identifiers and play by the rules they didn’t write yet, That’s subversive yes; you don’t win a battle by playing by the rules. Especially if Island Hopping is the name of the game. And the rule writers are all politicians pushing pens and being arm chair warriors looking out more so for the next election cycle than the lives onboard the ships and not paying attention to the reports coming in, lighting up a cigar and downing bourbon. Personally I’ll take grease under my nails than that any day, So that’s the road map anyway. What they don’t know, doesn’t give them an eyebrow raise with the old money disappointing nose raise. That’s right, here how it usually works. Here’s a check for $1,000,000 to shut the #### up. Pass the spending bill and don’t look back or…
Anyways cowards crow as cower and contingencies dreamt manifest in the distracted minds of the rule makes as the Webster Marryman Dictionary comes out with some pretty bad ### collaborators congregate. Side Stepping the proverbial pin drop, slippery slope. And if a Slippery Slope seems appealing to you right now after all this back story, it’s time to reach the center of the walk into the woods. Mind you it takes just as much time to walk from the woods as it did to arrive into the woods. So here we are.
Time to stop the Beurocratic 30 levels deep of NO and get to work and do the work the tax payers prefer, sentineled by the young (The ones who really do care about what’s next)
Here’s the ship! She’s named Artemis, The Greek God of the Hunt! Perfect. Let’s talk heavy modification and DESIGN INTENT! Lost by the mass, but not forgotten here. You’ve reached the light house in the stormy seas. Welcome to the Artemis Class…. #### (Hold on have to scroll up) Battle Cruiser and Scout Ship.
Hiding amongst asteroids, this multipurpose stutter at Congressional level Defense Spending Hearings is a purpose driven NFG Swiss Army Knife Cruiser. The Forecastle has been chopped off another ship (quick buck to the scrapper) and a (Strategically Transport of Essentials to an Alternate Location ((Steal)) with no one looking makes it possible to have a multipurpose Heavy / Scout / Mine Laying / Mining / Mass Driving Assault Cruiser. Doubled in secrecy, meaning these would take advantage of the Helios and Janus Project advantages for secrecy. They would nester up in Astroid Belts, mining munitions, positioning mines, and ready to sneak attack if nessicary. This is a Star System Stalker, and good luck finding it in a rolling mess of asteroids.
YAY achicecture time! She’s elongated to accommodate the Facities of the Mine laying rack and Mass Driving launcher. What’s a mass driver? When you launch an asteroid at a planet, station or colony. You could even put some explosive that’s time delayed to scatter the asteroid before impact, that has its own advantages, but lets not get side tracked. That’s the big diagonal rail tunnel thru the ship. It’s covered in thrusters to navigate the busy chaos of an asteroid field and full of Point Defense Gatling Guns to paper spread at will any asteroids or enemy scouts or assaults coming in. It could even use its long range Valkyrie Scout Ship for extrac Long range intelligence collecting. So yes, it’s at the back nesseled in. 360 x 3 Gatling 360 / 360 Degree 80 degree elevation automated automated friendly or foe detecting Sensor Arrays all over the ships. And thrusters everywhere to provide tight turns and navigation through the belts. Anyway, you get the point. Back oops, off the books, stuttering Politions ### kicking Swiss Army Knife Ship. More Variants to come. This is another Rabbit Hole FYI.
Stay Tuned and Enjoy!

I’m not proof reading this tonight fyi, publish and off to bed. ENJOY! More BS tomorrow you can put a red cent on that one ;)
UTOH, the Merchant Navy Ship can be a refuser for it too.. How many Remixes of Remixes can possibly happen…
Update! That Forecastle upfront, you know, the first one, if your looking from the Bridge, not the unfortunate other ones... the empty one where the puffs and stuffs would be. Well, I started modeling up some concepts of what machinery you would find in there. So have a look. Its not complete because I'm not an idiot. The idea is, its a modular, mine layer apparatus to tuck inside there. This sort of thing isnt far flug from the old factories you can still see in use today if your an ME like me :)
Eye candy? Try working in the middle of something like that covered in everything...
Anyway... Its also Modular and what you might expect to see in a Naval refit or the yesteryears.
Enjoy!
