Summary

I designed this specifically for powering astronomy equipment, but it can be used for any purpose that requires a similar setup. I needed to distribute 12V power for my astrophotography equipment and ensure everything was protected with fuses. If anyone needs a wiring diagram, I can help, but it’s fairly straightforward.

I used thumbscrews and threaded nut inserts for ease of use, but M4 screws would work just as well. The box and top required some light sanding to achieve a nice drop-in fit. To keep the box sealed while allowing wire movement, I made custom grommets using TPU. They fit snugly and don’t budge when the lid is on, so I didn’t need to glue them. You’ll need to cut the grommet slits after assembly.

The pole mount is designed specifically for a 2-inch diameter tripod leg. The clamp rings are also printed in TPU to provide a non-slip grip. Like the rest of the build, I used thumbscrews and threaded nut inserts, but you could opt for regular screws with butterfly nuts.

Since this was designed for astrophotography, it’s not waterproof (we only shoot when it’s clear).
