Summary

ADXL345 accelerometer support

I've installed my Artillery SideWinder with Klipper firmware.
Determined to get the most out of it, I wanted to calculate the resonance compensation on its X axis.

To do this, you need to use an accelerometer (link to the one I used), which must be mounted as close as possible to the nozzle.

So I created this little bracket that attaches directly to the extruder.

I took care to :

  • keep the overall dimensions as small as possible.
  • not to compromise the rigidity of the support, so as not to induce vibrations due to a soft/wooby/loose support during probing process.
  • keep it as close as possible to the nozzle, but far enough away to prevent melting
  • designed to stay in place.
  • easy to (un)mount.

BOM

  • M3 * 16mm (x2)
  • M2 * 5mm (x2)

Assembly

  1. Print the support
  2. Screw accelerometer to bracket with two M2 * 5mm screws
  3. Unscrew the lower 2 fan screws on the left side of the extruder.
  4. Fit the bracket and secure with two M3 * 16mm screws (the original screws must be replaced as they are a little too short).
