The file 'Articulated Mecha Dragon 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 40.9MB.
Well, after printing the awesome "Ghost Dragon" by Kulowskyy (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5753936), I figured I'd take a shot at creating my own.
Turns out I'm not very good at modelling. Some people would call this a "Low-Poly" model, but I'll settle for "Low-Skill".
However, I am quite pleased with the result and I am proud to present my:
Great name, I know... (seriously though, if anyone has a better name I will give full credit for it)
I designed this in Fusion 360 (which was probably my first mistake) and laid out the parts in PrusaSlicer and printed on my Ender 3 Pro.
There are two versions:
"Mecha Dragon KM" is a decently sized version that just about anyone can easily print.
"Mecha Dragon KM - Long" is a much longer version that may pose a bit of a challenge.
I have also included the individual parts if you wanted to take a crack at making an even longer version. The "Long" version currently has 60 links and someone can probably do better with a more efficient layout.
I designed it so that there aren't any angles greater than 45 degrees, so supports should not be needed. Bed adhesion may be an issue. I did have a couple of prints fail very early, but I cleaned my bed and had no issues after that. I did not use any adhesion promoters.
UPDATE!
I ended up redesigning the link posts to make them much stronger and allow for more movement. I have only fixed the normal version so far and will be updating the "Long" version over Christmas break, so keep an eye out for it. I have also updated the individual files, so you can try and build your own if you want
