Summary

This is a remix of the beautiful Artichoke lamp shade by gCreate. A lot of people were having trouble accessing the interior for installing the socket / fixture and changing the bulb, so I split the model in half and created a connector O-ring that attaches to the top half with 12 x 2mm screws. The bottom half then screws into the O-ring.

The tolerances on the O-ring and bottom half threads are not great, so it's not the smoothest connection, but with some patience and gentle maneuvering it does work.

Also, some of the heads on the little screws just tore off as I was tightening them. I found the trick is to apply some downforce while screwing them in so they keep tapping into the top half.

The O-ring is somewhat visible from a lower vantage point, but I don't think it's a deal-breaker as the general look is still quite clean. That said if some enterprising soul wants to try and bury it deeper in the structure that might make for a cleaner look.

I tried it in PET-G but PLA prints much better. And printing the top half without supports causes a small section of ripple on a couple of "leaves" but it is very hidden by other parts of the lamp.

Planning on finishing this as a counter-weighted pendant with a very bright dimmable LED so I can dial in the height and intensity.
