This spacer helps with the instillation of joysticks on your DIY arcade cabinet or console. It can be tricky to align the joystick under the control panel so that the metal stick/handle is perfectly centered. This spacer makes that task easy.
This is for a 3/4" plywood control panel with 1-1/8" (28mm) holes for the joysticks.
First put the spacer into the hole from the top of the control panel. Then, insert the joystick into the center hole of the spacer from underneath the control panel. This will perfectly center the joystick. You can then use a T-square or a speed square to make sure that the body of the joystick is squared off to the front edge of your control panel.
At this point, you can screw the joystick to the control panel, or mark where to install threaded inserts to use machine screws to attatch the joystick.
