How many of us have had a guest flip or turn off the main light switch rendering our smart home useless?
There have been too many instances where people are adding smart buttons right next to their main/original light switch. This causes confusion and unnecessary clutter. I wanted to design a light switch cover that would also function as a placeholder for a smart button. Once I found and verified the design shared by maieiahbgaae, I knew it was the perfect starting point to design the rest of the item.
For those who are wondering what this means for the future when they would need to swap a dead battery on the Aqara, a simple twist of the Wireless Mini Switch will remove the button from the back cover. The back cover will stay mounted onto the 3D-printed part. The Wireless Mini Switch can be reassembled with a new battery without needing another double-sided backing.
This light switch cover was designed for the Aqara Wireless Mini Switch, but this doesn't mean that it can't be used with other smart buttons. The center circle in the design has a smaller diameter than the backside of the Philips Hue Smart Button, allowing it to be used with those as well.
