Summary

Mini Mac Studio Accessory Drawer

This was a project I designed in Tinkercad, sliced in Cura, and printed on a Creality CR6-SE.

I designed this little accessory drawer to sit on my desk and match the look of my new Mac Studio computer. I had a few goals in mind:

  1. I needed convenient access to USB-A ports. I designed this around the a well-reviewed USB hub I picked top from Amazon. The Inateck USB Hub with 4 USB A Ports, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Speed, 50cm Cable, HB2025A.

  2. I wanted it to hold my Sandisk Extreme portable SSD and have room to add another SSD down the line. I left the back largely open and added vent holes in the floor of the tray to allow good air flow for the SSD's.

  3. I wanted a place to hide all the USB thumb drives, SD cards, and other accessories that usually sit scattered on my desk.

  4. As a bonus, I found the set up also worked well to plug in and hide an Apple Watch charger so I have that at hand as needed.

The unit measures 6 inches by 6 inches and 2 inches in height. It turned out perfect for my needs.

One note, I designed the spot for the USB Hub to be a little bit loose. To lock it in place, I put a small piece of the soft side of some self-adhesive velcro stripping on the top. This gives just enough resistance to hold it snug, but still allow easy removal if needed.
