Apple just came out with the Airtags, but they don't come with any kind of case to actually hang the Airtag from anything. So rather than buy expensive accessories (do you want to pay $300 for a Hermes charm?), we obviously have the capability to print our own cases. I designed this around announced Airtag dimensions, and will update it once a drawing or Airtag is available.
I've included both a version with a ring and a clip.
This is a complete print in place complete assembly, including the hinge.
April 28th Update ---
Per comments beefed up the clip and also added a version without a ring or hook. I'm testing using PETG which tends to be very good for clips, so happy to get any feedback from anyone printing with PLA.
April 30th Update ---
According to the official drawings Apple just released, the tag is about 1/2 mm thicker than they originally said it was, so I've updated the STLs to reflect that. I'll continue to refine them a bit further once I can get an actual tag.
May 3rd Update ---
Increased the size of the round to better match the airtag. Replaced the lip with a fillet for easier printing (less prone to potential issues due to the slicer adding extra wall thickness). Added a chamfer around the hinge to reduce the amount of support required.
May 4th Update ----
Increased the angle on the edges a bit to try and keep the two halves from moving all over each other. Decreased the diameter a tiny bit to reduce ~1 mm of clearance to 1/2 mm.
Also my 6 year old seems to think this is a good purse for her dolls... so there's that. I was considering getting rid of the non-open versions but I guess I'm stuck with them for now :)
May 11th Update ----
I mostly print using PETG, but many others said the PLA versions of the clips were breaking. So I reduced the interference a bit and doubled the thickness. That should help. Make sure to reduce your fan speed a bunch to improve inter-layer adhesion as well.
May 16th Update ----
Finally got hold of an actual airtag, so I've increased the hole diameter to let the battery cover through and made the overall size of the case much thinner.
