Summary

This carriage is designed to:

Replace the original carriage by providing a maximum of compatibility with original parts (you only have to replace the fan duct, all the other original parts can be used)
Provide similar positioning of the nozzle, so you not even have to change the firmware when coming from the original A8
Provide ab platform for any direct drive design you want to put on your Anet A8
And the reason I did it:
Provide the possibility to use upgraded extruder designs like the MK8 (https://www.amazon.de/Geeetech-MK8-Extruder-f%C3%BCr-Prusa-I3-3D-Drucker/dp/B06X9KNXZC/ref=sr_1_10?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=extruder&qid=1554543845&s=gateway&sr=8-10) in da direct drive setup on the Anet A8 (on the original carriage you are not able to use a design with a lever you you had to cut the carriage which took away the bracket for the fan.
