The file 'Ambileaf Light Panels 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 20.2KB.

Summary

I wanted to build light panels like the Nanoleaf Light Panels for a while now.
After some experimenting with some WS2812b LED strips I finally decided to build 8 panels.

PARTS LIST

  • 2 sheets of acrylic diffusers (500 x 500 x 3,0mm)
  • ~2Kg of white PLA fillament
  • 5v 40A Power Supply
  • WS2812b LED Strips (Each panel has 21 LEDs (8 x 21 = 168 LEDs total))
  • MOS Module (optional)

CREATING THE PANELS

I started of by creating a 3D model of the panel. I wanted the panels to be larger than the Nanoleaf panels, so thats what I did. Little did i know that I couldn't print this on my 3D Printer anymore. (Printing on the Anycubic I3 Mega). I had to split up the panel in to 3 individual sections.
I also wanted the panels to be as light as possible so the back of the panel only has the structural supports where I thought were neccesary.

When all the sections were done printing, it was time to glue them together with super glue. After glueing all the sections together it was time for the wiring, this was pretty straight forward only make sure that each panel has its own 5v line straight from the power supply.

After al the hardware stuff was complete, it was time to upload the code and the project was complete.

This project is still a work in progress tho and will be updated when its done.
