Summary

This replacement joystick shell enables you to use the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick either left or right handed. The original shell has a thumb grip that makes it uncomfortable to use this joystick left handed, so this replacement shell removes that. It's completely redesigned from scratch, but reuses all the original buttons and screws.

To assemble, remove the 5 screws from the original shell, pop out the trigger button and the large button labelled “2”, and carefully remove the two circuit boards, putting the HAT switch to one side. Take a small screwdriver and push out the round red buttons labelled “3” and “4” on the original shell.

Reinsert the circuit boards as shown in the attached image, taking care to position the notch on the HAT switch pointing to the left (see HAT switch image). Once the shell is loosely assembled, position the trigger button and the large button labelled “2”, and tighten the 5 original screws.

This model must be printed with supports. Take care when removing the supports, especially around the location of the “2” button, as the retaining notches can easily break.
