No more wasted time or filament to the printing tests with huge useless surfaces.
Just put this in your printer now - if you dare! When you have finished reading and understanding this, the print will be half done and you know more about your printer and settings!
Tests:
-Bridging: two bridges: 10 and 25mm.
-Dimensional accuracy: Base plate is 30mm, long tower is 30mm with the base, short blocks are 2x2x10mm size.
-Overhang test up to 80 degs: You can bend it away after printing to see below better. Overhang tower is 10mm wide.
-Hole test: Two rectangular holes are 2x10mm and 2mm deep.
-Circle hole test with dimensions: 2, 4, 6, 8. You will figure out which is which with calipers.
-Small feature test, dimensions: 0,5 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4. The half spheres have half the height of this.
-The long tower works as a cooling tower for the overhang test. After the overhang test has finished, you will see if your cooling settings are enough for short layers in the tower.
-Elephants foot phenomenon can be seen from the side easily, first layer extrusion from the bottom, over/underextrusion and wall overlap by looking at the piece carefully from the top and between the features.
So what is it missing?
-Real support test. (Will maybe add later)
-BS such as texts, signatures, multiple instances of similar elements that only add printing time and cost.
This is not a showpiece, it is a tool made to expose potential problems with prints. Supposed to be hard to print so that it looks very good!
Happy printing!
Edit: V2, shaved a couple minutes off to be closer to the 30 minute promise. Made the holes all the way through the bottom to examine the holes printed against the build plate.
