Summary

Alien abduction

This alien abduction game can keep the kids busy for a good while…who doesn't like crashing UFOs after all?!

My kids wanted to join a 3D printing game competition and this is the game they came up with. I helped them design it and guide them but the ideas are theirs. If you want to show them you like their design, please do so at Alien Abduction :)

The UFO floats in the air with the help of magnets and a fishing line that keeps the magnets from reaching each other. When too much cargo is loaded into the UFO, the magnets can't hold it flying anymore and it crashes!

The rules of the game are explained in the attached users guide and there is a picture explaining how to assemble the game. Also notice the warning regarding lose magnets and kids, make sure you glue the magnets properly!

Print instructions
Use a high infill percentage for the “specimens” to increase their weight as much as possible.

Support is recommended for some parts.

Print multiple chairs, tree stumps, fridges and cows…or perhaps you can find other fun specimens for the aliens to abduct among the Prusa prints? If you do, please link them in the comments for others to see and use!

Extra assembly information
The UFO upper and bottom parts are attached with five UFO plugs. The first time it will be a very tight fit but once the UFO has been opened a couple of times it will loosen enough for the kids to open it on their own.

The chair with a fridge on can be glued to the house with a hole in the roof. There is also a house without a hole and the chair with a fridge can ofc be left out if preferred.

There are two cow versions, with and without grass in their mouth. Both versions comes with an extra split in half model, depending on your print preferences. If you glue a cow to the ground plate as prop, remember to place it where the UFO won't crash on it's head…

My UFO doesn't crash :(
Don't be sad! Just print more specimens or increase the distance between the UFO and the magnet by slowly turning the tree stump.

My UFO doesn't fly :(
If you have tried decreasing the distance between the UFO and the magnet on the magnet holder as much as possible and it still doesn't fly, you unfortunately need better quality magnets. Read the specifications again and perhaps try a bigger diameter on the magnet.
