Summary

A minimalistic keyring attachment for Apple's AirTag Bluetooth tracker.

The attachment is mounted between the stainless steel cover and the main body of the AirTag.

Because the gap between those parts is barely larger than 0.2mm, the quality of the first layer of the print is crucial. The initial layer should be 0.2mm. A printer with high dimensional accuracy is recommended.

To insall the keyring attachment, the AirTag needs to be disassembled. The stainless steel cover is then inserted into the center of the attachment before closing the AirTag back up.

As the material fills almost the entire gap between the body and the cover, the tag has to be compressed a bit more forcefully in order to close it back up. It can be helpful to rotate the printed attachment along with the stainless steel cover when closing.

I've performed some crude durability tests and, for the size of the printed part, am rather satisfied with the stability. It should suffice for most uses, but experiences may vary. I also do not know how PLA as a material will hold up if left in a hot environment (e.g. car parked in the sun), so consider printing it with PETG if that could be an issue.
