Summary

This is my take on an airsoft target holder with built in pellet trap, catering for 140mm square targets. It includes an immediate trap which funnels the pellets into a separate catcher compartment for containment and easy disposal. It can be used free-standing or by hanging.

Tested with 6mm 0.20g plastic BBs at approx 300fps ONLY

Print the main body on its back (no supports) with 0.32mm layer height and 4x perimeters. This will reduce printing time and increase strength and layer adhesion. Print the target clips and catcher door with 0.2mm layer height for added fitting quality.

The trap walls are 3.2mm thick and will print solid. It stands up to my airsoft pistol, which is a standard 320fps model shooting 6mm 0.20g plastic BBs. Your mileage may vary, but I doubt it will stand up steel BBs, lead pellets or anything powerful.

Glue in three target clips with Superglue.

Fit the catcher compartment door with a length of filament as a hinge. You may find the holes for the door hinge too small to easily insert the filament. In this case, heat the end of a 1.5mm Allen key with a lighter to clear the holes. After fitting the door, snip off excess filament, heat the ends and flatten into place.

I had some suggestions for dampening the energy from the BB using foam or denim or for strengthening the strike plates with metal for steel pellets. No matter what you decide to do, I have included a template to help you cut out the shape needed for the strike plate in .DXF, .SVG and .STL (single layer) formats.
