Summary

I wanted to create a folding smartphone stand that was adjustable and fully printable without support and did NOT require any assembly.

My design goals were:

  1. Adjustable reading angles.
  2. Fully printable, no assembly, no additional hardware needed, no parts to lose when traveling.
  3. No supports needed.
  4. It should be strong but not require too much plastic.

It feels sturdy in the hand. It's adjustable and sure footed. I added stick on rubber feet to the bottom which stopped it from sliding around on my desk.

Note: Slic3r recommended for this model. I had a problem with Cura that bonded the top and bottom parts together. I used what I think were the same settings for both slicers but perhaps someone else would have better luck. I've seen this issue with other models (bonding walls that are separated by less than 1mm) in Cura but not Slic3r.

UPDATE: 8SEP2016: I improved the clearances so you shouldn't really have to snap any of the parts free after printing. It should move fairly freely almost immediately. This has SOVLED the Cura problem. Cura prints this model just fine now.
