Summary

I needed a simple yet effective filter for fumes (smell) and particles produced when 3d printing. The simple solution is a simple frame that mounts on the printer onto which the 120mm fan is mounted. A filter is cut to shape from active carbon (about 13-15mm thick). The lid (which holds the filter) is held in place by friction between frame and lid. It should be a snug fit but if too loose just add some tape (I use felt tape).

I made a smaller variant without a frame as well: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2752346

As always, if you find it useful a tiny donation goes a long way to show appreciation. :)

Rev 180115: After some prototyping I improved the design. The rubber seal is no longer needed. The honey comb pattern is slightly chamfered to reduce the risk of breaking when removing from the print bed. I also added a slightly smaller lid which will be faster to print.
