Summary

I have a Sony Minidisc player that uses these NiMH "gumstick" batteries, which are electrically about the same as a standard AA, but physically flat and longer. Chargers for these are pretty expensive, but if you already have a NiMH AA charger, this adapter might work for you. The big hole in the middle is to let you pop out the batteries easily. Without that they were very hard to get out. The hole is ugly but works perfectly.

I suggest you print it with the round side down and with supports. (text side up) This seems like a waste of material, but the result is very strong and all the gaps for electrical conductors will be formed properly.

The metal parts are 10mm wide by 0.2mm thick nickel strip, commonly used to make electrical contacts in DIY battery packs. You can buy this on Amazon. In a pinch you could use aluminum roof flashing, or maybe aluminum foil folded into many layers (maybe 20 layers thick and pressed flat with a vice could work; I did not try this).
