Summary

This is a screw top container to hold either one or two AA batteries. This version allows for the top battery to stick out by about half an inch. The first version, not posted, was great for batteries being stuck in the tube, because I didn't leave the top battery sticking out.

This tube is relatively waterproof. I did get some water from inside the tube to go through the threads, so I am not sure how waterproof this would be in the long run, but it is much better than just carrying a battery in your pocket, where it can short on something metal and cause a fire or kill the battery.

The threads used are 3/4x16. While this is a common enough thread that both the tap and the die are available and relatively cheap, I had great success just heating up the threads with a bic lighter along the seam and then working the screw cap on and off several times.

I printed this using a 0.10mm layer height. This seemed to help the quality of the threads work out well. The threads were at the top on both parts.

I also had great success with using the "one at a time" setting, where one entire piece would print at the front of the bed, then the other at the back. Any failures would be limited to only one piece, and the cooling for each individual piece would be correct instead of switching back and forth between two pieces.

If you make this, please snap a picture and post a make!
