So this is actually A's Bee Home. Needed a present for a friend, whose name starts with an A (not sure what I would have done if it were e.g. an "i"...) but it makes a beautiful addition to any garden, balcony, terrace, backyard.... (even if your first name does not start with an A). Stands perfectly well e.g. on a shelf or can be mounted to the wall with a simple nail or small hook.
Although we have been keeping bumble and honey bees for more than 10 years, not much experience with mason bees, so I am looking forward to hearing your makes/experiences. Either way, don't put in direct sunlight (you will fry your bees and melt your print ;-) ), but a warm place and morning sun should be fine, and don't use any potentially toxic materials.
Filament.
Printing should be really easy. No supports or attachment needed. Printed mine in PLA but your favorite filament will do.
Instead of printing the insert you could just as well use a number of hollow branches (e.g. from bamboo or Philadelphus), approx. 50 mm in length, and glue them into the A-frame.
