You can use WLED to control your matrix. This is pretty easy to install and controllable with your smatphone (WLED App), MQTT, Amazon Alexa etc.

Required Parts:
The plexiglass should have a diameter of 2mm or 2.5mm. Make sure to print the right backplate.
