They print flat to avoid using support and cut down on print time.
after printing bend them to whatever position you like.
Some have antennae so if they are a large enough scale the slicing programs will include them in the gcode.
I have to give credit to Mentalist for coming up with such a creative use for these decorations. If not for his original idea i wouldn't have been interested in printing butterflies at all.
