Summary

A simple test piece I use to set filament temperatures. Uploaded to help a forum member solve an issue but it might be helpful to others as well.

Print with a brim. The following general rules will help dial in the perfect temp. I am not sure where I found these instructions, kudos to the author. It may not be the end-all, but they have been helpful to me. I have added the bits in parentheses based on my own experiences.

  • If the model shrinks at the bottom thus lifting the corners up then the overall bed temp is too high.
  • If the bottom corners/edges peel up around the outside, the first layer bed temp is too low.
  • If layers separate overall extruder temp is too low or extrusion multiplier needs to be increased.
  • If the sides of the model has blobs, the extruder temp is too high. (also check for improper retraction settings.)
  • If the extrusions in the model have gaps, the extruder is too cold and/or print speed is too fast. (Also check for partially clogged extruder and moisture/dirt in filament.)
