Proof of concept for a 3D printed plasma torch. USB powered by a DC Electric High Voltage Generator.
A plasma torch is a device for generating a directed flow of plasma. Plasma treatments are used to clean and activate the surface of a wide range of materials to make them easier to bond, glue and paint.
Q&A:
Q: Where did you get the HV converter? Is there a part number or supplier that you could share?
A: Got it from ebay, they call it 'NEW DC High Voltage Generator Inverter Electric Ignitor for 18650 Battery K9', around 2-3$
Q: What do you use as gas source? Just air or something special like nitrogen, helium etc?
A: I use Argon gas
Q: How do you generate the airflow?
A: Pressurized Argon gas bottle is connected to the glass tube in the plasma torch by a rubber tube adapter
Q: Glass tube is self made, I assume? Just regular laboratory glass tubing heated and drawn?
A: Just a regular laboratory glass tubing that I bought in this shape. Big diameter 7mm (100mm long), small diameter 1.6mm (cut to the right length)
Q: Did you test the effect on adhesion?
A: No, I have not tested this yet.
