I've always wanted to build a somewhat bigger 3D-printer and also recently came across a video of a 5-axis cnc machine for milling molds out of foam, so i thought it would be nice to build a 2 in 1 machine.

The actual purpose of this machine is to serve as a test platform to test out different manufacturing techniques such as milling, 5-axis milling, 3D-printing and maybe even laser cutting. The 5-axis milling is only intended for very soft materials such as foam, to mill molds. The construction (aluminium tubing) doesn't allow for harder materials such as wood or steel or similar.

The machine is currently being controlled by an Arduino mega + ramps board. The firmware currently on the board is marlin. The software being used to control the machine is repetier host. For the 5-axis part I'll be using grbl as firmware and the software to control the machine will be GrblGru.

The super racer is a huge improvement to the Q5 in terms of setup, print speed, noise and build volume.
