This is a remix of brandon75t's 3018 spindle carrier upgrade that has been modified to hold a 40mm laser on the outside of the bracket and use the spindle holder to hold a tube which is connected to a 3in. flexible hose for removal of smoke and fumes to the outside.
It is highly effective. https://youtu.be/kMp70DZGEz8
I used M2x20 screws with heat set inserts to hold the top cover on the extractor body. I designed holes on the tubes and body and hose coupler to allow for fastening them together, but I found that they held together pretty well on their own and being able to remove the hood easily was handy for setting the focus when needed.
I used M3 heat set inserts and M3x8 Allen screws to clamp the laser to the spindle carrier.
The vent motor is available on Amazon here This thing sounds like a jet engine at 12V and can suck lighter peices off the table. I run this at 5V and it's very quiet and works well.
The vent tubing is also on Amazon here
